Possible Causes

Open-circuit temperature sensor, shorted temperature sensor, damaged sensor wiring harness, faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the oven from the mains supply before removing any panels.

  • Power reset: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore and test. If E002 reappears, proceed with checks.
  • Locate the temperature sensor: On most Neff ovens, the NTC sensor is mounted inside the cavity at the rear or top, usually a small metal probe held by one or two screws.
  • Visual inspection: Check that the sensor is firmly fixed and not bent, broken, or covered in heavy grease/carbon that could affect readings.
  • Test resistance: With power off and sensor disconnected from the harness, measure resistance with a multimeter. Typical NTC sensors are around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (exact value varies by model). Infinite resistance indicates open circuit; near 0 Ω indicates a short.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the sensor to the main PCB for chafing, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the control board.

If the sensor is out of specification or open/shorted, replace it. If the sensor and wiring test correctly but E002 persists, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a professional.
