Possible Causes
Open-circuit grill element, failed dual-circuit grill element section, faulty grill selector switch (on knob-controlled models), damaged wiring to grill element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the cooker/oven from the mains. The grill area can remain hot for a long time; ensure it is cool.
- Check grill element visually: Open the door and inspect the top grill element. Look for visible breaks, sagging, or burn spots.
- Continuity test: Remove the top cover or rear panel (depending on model) to access the grill element terminals. Disconnect the wires and test with a multimeter. If open circuit, replace the grill element.
- Selector switch (if fitted): On New World freestanding cookers with rotary grill selector, remove the control panel cover and inspect the grill switch for burnt contacts or melted plastic. If the switch feels loose or intermittent, replace it.
- Wiring inspection: Check all wiring from the control PCB or selector switch to the grill element. Replace any overheated or brittle wires with high-temperature cable.
- Fit new grill element: Unscrew the element brackets inside the cavity, support the element while disconnecting wires, then install the new New World grill element, ensuring secure connections and correct routing.
