Possible Causes

Blown internal thermal fuse or cut-out, failed main oven element, faulty function selector switch, failed main oven control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the oven at the mains. Confirm with a tester that no voltage is present.

  • Check basic power: Verify that the oven display or indicator lights come on. If completely dead, suspect mains supply, terminal block, or main fuse/cut-out.
  • Test elements: If lights and fan work but there is no heat on any function, access and test the main oven elements (fan, top, base) for continuity. Replace any open-circuit elements.
  • Inspect thermal cut-outs: Locate any inline thermal fuses or thermostats on the top/rear of the oven. Test for continuity. Replace any that are open and investigate cause of overheating.
  • Function selector: On knob-controlled New World cookers, remove the control panel and inspect the oven function selector switch for burnt contacts. Replace if damaged.
  • Control PCB: If all elements and safety devices test good, the control PCB may not be sending power to the heaters and will likely need replacement.
