Possible Causes
Element shorted to earth, damaged wiring insulation touching chassis, moisture inside elements or terminal block, faulty mains filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Isolate the oven and only test with appropriate electrical knowledge.
- Identify function causing trip: Note whether the trip occurs on fan oven, grill, or conventional mode. This points to the suspect element.
- Insulation test (advanced): With all wires disconnected from the suspect element, use a megohmmeter to test resistance between each terminal and earth. Low resistance indicates earth leakage; replace the element.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burnt or crushed wires, especially where they pass through metal panels. Repair with high-temperature cable and proper grommets.
- Dry out moisture: If the oven was recently steam-cleaned or flooded, allow it to dry for 24–48 hours before retesting.
- Replace mains filter: If tripping occurs immediately when power is applied, the mains interference filter may be shorted and should be replaced.
