Possible Causes

Shorted temperature sensor (NTC), Sensor wiring short to chassis, Failed analog-to-digital input on control PCB, Mis-seated sensor probe in cavity

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components. Hot surfaces may remain hot for some time after use.

  • 1. Confirm temperature issue: Use an oven thermometer to compare actual temperature to the set temperature. If the oven overshoots significantly, suspect the sensor.
  • 2. Locate the sensor: In most Panasonic ovens, the temperature sensor is a metal probe protruding from the rear or top of the cavity, secured with one or two screws.
  • 3. Inspect mounting: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly mounted and not pushed back into the cavity wall, which can cause incorrect readings.
  • 4. Test sensor resistance: With power disconnected, remove the rear cover to access the sensor connector. Disconnect it and measure resistance at room temperature. Typical NTC sensors read around 1–1.1 kΩ at 25°C (check your model’s service data). A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) or a reading far from spec indicates a faulty sensor.
  • 5. Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the sensor to the control board for pinched or shorted wires, especially where it passes through metal panels.
  • 6. Replace sensor if faulty: Install a new Panasonic-compatible oven temperature sensor, route wiring away from hot or sharp areas, and secure with original clips.
  • 7. If sensor and wiring are OK: The main control PCB’s sensor input circuit may be defective. This is a board-level repair best handled by a technician.
