Possible Causes
Open or faulty cooling fan, Blocked ventilation around oven, Failed cavity thermal cut-out, Control board misreading temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the oven to cool completely and disconnect power before inspection. Do not operate the oven with covers removed.
- 1. Check installation and ventilation: Ensure the oven has the clearances specified in the Panasonic installation guide. Blocked vents above or behind the oven can cause rapid overheating.
- 2. Listen for cooling fan: When the oven is started, a top or rear cooling fan should run. If you do not hear it, the fan motor or its supply may be faulty.
- 3. Access cooling fan: Remove the oven from the cabinet and take off the top cover to locate the cooling fan assembly. Spin the fan blades by hand; they should move freely without noise.
- 4. Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also check for loose connectors.
- 5. Inspect thermal cut-out: Locate the thermal cut-out or thermostat on the top of the cavity. Test for continuity. If it is open and non-resettable, replace it with the correct Panasonic-rated part.
- 6. After replacing parts: Reassemble, restore power, and test. If the error persists despite good airflow and components, the control PCB may be misreading temperature and require replacement.
