Possible Causes
Open thermal cut-out thermostat, Blocked cooling airflow, Failed cooling fan, Loose thermal cut-out wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the oven for airflow and that cabinet vents are not blocked.
- Inspect cooling fan: Confirm that the cooling fan runs when the oven is on (before disconnecting power). If it does not, see fan-related faults.
- Locate thermal cut-out: Access the rear or top of the oven and find the thermal cut-out thermostat (small round or rectangular device with two terminals mounted on the top or back of the cavity).
- Test continuity: With power off, disconnect one wire and test the thermostat with a multimeter. If it is open (no continuity) and is a manual-reset type, press the small reset button if present. If it does not reset or is a non-resettable type, it must be replaced.
After replacing or resetting the thermal cut-out, investigate the cause of overheating (blocked vents, failed fan) to prevent recurrence.
