Possible Causes
Open main oven heating element, Failed oven thermostat sensor (NTC probe), Faulty relay on main control PCB, Burnt wiring at element terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power at the breaker before any work. Allow the oven to cool completely.
- Check for obvious damage: Remove the rear cover (freestanding) or pull the built-in oven out and remove the back panel. Inspect the main oven element for blisters, cracks, or burn marks.
- Test the main oven element: Disconnect the element spade connectors. Use a multimeter on resistance (ohms). A typical Proline main oven element should read between 20–60 Ω. If it reads open (OL) or very high resistance, replace the element.
- Inspect wiring and terminals: Look for burnt or loose spade connectors on the element and at the control PCB relay output. Clean light oxidation and tighten or replace damaged terminals.
- Check the temperature sensor (NTC probe): Access the probe from inside the cavity (usually at the rear wall). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor out. Measure resistance at room temperature; most Proline NTC sensors read around 500–1100 Ω at 20–25°C. If open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the sensor.
- Control board relay check (advanced): With power still disconnected, visually inspect the main control PCB for burnt relay contacts or tracks. If the relay is visibly damaged or you smell burning, the PCB will usually need replacement rather than repair.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and test in conventional bake mode. If F01 returns immediately after replacing the element and sensor, the main control PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
