Possible Causes
Open grill element, Faulty grill selector relay on control PCB, Burnt wiring to grill element, Overheat cut-out (thermal fuse) open on grill circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power and ensure it is cool.
- Visual inspection: Look at the grill element inside the top of the cavity for cracks, blisters, or breaks.
- Resistance test: Access the rear of the oven and locate the grill element terminals. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance; typical grill elements read 15–40 Ω. If open, replace the grill element.
- Check thermal cut-out: Many Proline ovens have a thermal cut-out or safety thermostat in series with the grill. Locate it (often on the top panel or near the grill area) and test for continuity. If open and not resettable, replace it.
- Inspect wiring: Check for heat-damaged insulation or loose spade connectors on the grill circuit. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control PCB: If the element and cut-out are good, the grill relay on the control PCB may be faulty. Look for burnt marks around the relay. Replace the PCB if necessary.
