Possible Causes
Worn mechanical function selector switch, Faulty rotary encoder on electronic models, Broken shaft or knob, Loose wiring from selector to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing knobs or panels.
- Check knob and shaft: Remove the function selector knob and inspect the shaft for cracks or rounding. Replace the knob if it does not grip properly.
- Inspect selector switch: Access the selector switch behind the control panel. Look for signs of overheating or melted plastic.
- Test continuity: Using the wiring diagram, test the selector switch contacts in different positions with a multimeter. If contacts do not change state correctly, replace the selector switch.
- Encoder models: For electronic rotary encoders, ensure the encoder is firmly mounted and the connector is secure. If F12 persists and the encoder does not register rotation, replace the encoder or UI PCB as a unit.
