Possible Causes
Blown thermal fuse on oven cavity, Overheating due to blocked vents, Faulty cooling fan, Incorrect installation causing poor airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains and allow it to cool.
- Locate thermal fuse: On many Proline ovens, the thermal fuse is mounted on the top or rear of the oven cavity, in series with the heating circuits.
- Continuity test: Disconnect one wire from the fuse and test across its terminals with a multimeter. If open, the fuse has blown and must be replaced with the exact rated part.
- Investigate cause: Before replacing, check that the cooling fan operates correctly and that ventilation openings are not blocked by cabinetry.
- Replace fuse: Fit the new thermal fuse securely and reconnect wiring. Do not bypass or short the fuse; it is a critical safety device.
- Re-test: Restore power and run the oven at a moderate temperature while monitoring for normal operation.
