Possible Causes

Failed main oven element, Loose or burnt element terminals, Faulty oven relay on control board, Damaged wiring between element and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect from mains and allow the oven to cool fully.

  • 1. Visual check of element: Remove oven shelves and liners. Inspect the visible element (rear or base) for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. Any visible damage means replacement is required.
  • 2. Access element terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the element connections. Look for burnt spade connectors or discoloured wiring. Clean or replace damaged terminals and ensure tight connections.
  • 3. Test element resistance: Disconnect the element wires and measure resistance. Typical values are 20–60 Ω depending on wattage. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • 4. Check wiring harness: Trace the wires from the element back to the control board. Repair any heat-damaged or brittle insulation and ensure all connectors are firmly seated.
  • 5. Control board relay: If the element tests good and wiring is intact, the oven relay on the electronic control may not be switching. This usually requires replacing the control board.

Note: Always use a Rangemaster-compatible replacement element with the correct wattage and mounting style for your specific model.
