Possible Causes
Internal failure of electronic control board, Corrupted control firmware, Shorted keypad or touch control, Power surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the appliance from the mains before removing any panels.
- 1. Power cycle: Turn off power for at least 10–15 minutes to fully discharge the control. Restore power and check if F6 clears. If it returns immediately, continue.
- 2. Check for moisture: If F6 appeared after heavy use or cleaning, inspect behind the control panel for signs of moisture or steam ingress. Allow the area to dry thoroughly and improve ventilation if necessary.
- 3. Inspect wiring to control: Remove the top/front panel to access the control board. Check all harness plugs for secure fit and signs of burning or corrosion.
- 4. Keypad/touch panel: Disconnect the keypad or touch panel ribbon cable (if separate) and power up briefly. If F6 changes or clears, the keypad assembly may be shorted and require replacement.
- 5. Replace control board: If wiring and keypad are sound, the control board itself is likely faulty. Replace with the exact Rangemaster part number for your model.
Note: Control board replacement involves working near live circuits and sharp metal edges; if unsure, use a qualified Rangemaster engineer.
