Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the gas supply at the isolation valve before dismantling any gas components. Gas work should be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer in the UK.
- 1. Observe ignition: With the door open, start the oven. Check that the burner lights along its full length and that the flame contacts the thermocouple tip.
- 2. Clean burner: Once cool and gas isolated, remove the burner and clean the ports with a soft brush. Ensure the burner cap is correctly seated when refitted.
- 3. Check thermocouple position: The thermocouple tip should sit in the flame. If bent away, gently reposition it.
- 4. Replace thermocouple: If the flame lights but goes out as soon as you release the knob, the thermocouple may be faulty and should be replaced with a Rangemaster-compatible part by a qualified engineer.
Warning: Do not attempt to adjust gas valves or regulators yourself unless you are appropriately qualified.
