Possible Causes
Failed electronic oven control (EOC) board, Corrupted temperature calibration data, Intermittent short in keypad circuit, Overheated control board due to poor ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Reset control: Turn the breaker OFF for 5–10 minutes, then back ON. Attempt to start a bake cycle. If F1 reappears quickly, suspect the control or keypad.
- Check for overheating: Ensure the oven is not installed too tightly against cabinetry blocking ventilation slots around the control panel. Overheating can damage the EOC.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the rear control panel cover. Inspect wiring harnesses to the EOC for loose connectors or burnt spots. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- Keypad test: If your RCA model has a separate keypad/touch membrane, disconnect it from the EOC and power up. If F1 still appears with the keypad disconnected, the EOC is defective.
- Replace EOC: If wiring and keypad check out, replace the electronic oven control board with the correct RCA-compatible part number.
