Possible Causes

Stuck bake or broil relay on EOC, Shorted oven temperature sensor, Control board temperature circuit failure, Wiring short between sensor and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Critical safety: If the oven is overheating, immediately turn off the breaker. Do not use the oven until repaired.

  • Test oven sensor: With power OFF, disconnect the oven temperature sensor and measure resistance at room temperature (around 1050–1100 Ω). If the sensor is shorted (very low resistance), replace it.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the rear control panel cover and inspect the EOC. Look for welded or burnt relay contacts. A relay stuck closed will keep the element energized.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the sensor wiring for shorts to chassis or other wires.
  • Replace faulty parts: Replace the oven temperature sensor if readings are incorrect. If the sensor and wiring are good, replace the electronic oven control board due to a stuck relay or failed temperature circuit.
  • Do not bypass safety devices: Never bypass thermostats or sensors to keep the oven running; this is a fire hazard.
