Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wires shorted together or to chassis, Melted sensor harness insulation, Moisture in sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before testing.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect the sensor wires where they pass near hot surfaces. Look for melted insulation or bare wires touching metal.
- Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Check for shorts to chassis: With the sensor disconnected, test each sensor lead to chassis ground. Any continuity indicates a short in the harness.
- Replace components: Replace the oven temperature sensor if shorted. Repair or replace any damaged wiring. If the circuit is good but F31 persists, the electronic oven control board may be faulty.
