Possible Causes
Loose oven sensor connector, Intermittent break in sensor wiring harness, Sensor resistance drifting out of range when hot, Oxidized contacts at control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing wiring.
- Inspect sensor connection: Remove the oven's rear panel. Locate the sensor harness connector and unplug/replug it several times to clean the contacts. Ensure it locks firmly.
- Wiggle test: With power OFF, gently flex the sensor wire along its length to feel for weak spots or breaks. Replace the harness if any damage is found.
- Hot resistance test (advanced): If you have a heat-safe multimeter setup, compare sensor resistance at room temperature and after heating the sensor (removed from oven) to about 350°F (176°C). Large jumps or open readings when hot indicate a failing sensor.
- Replace suspect parts: Replace the oven temperature sensor if readings are unstable. If the sensor and harness are good, the electronic oven control board may have an intermittent fault and should be replaced.
