Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Damaged control panel from cleaning chemicals, Pinched keypad ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion into keypad
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the control panel.
- Dry out moisture: If the error appeared after heavy cleaning or a spill, leave power off and allow the control panel to dry for 12–24 hours. Do not use heat guns or hair dryers directly on the panel.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel back cover. Check the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the EOC for kinks, cuts, or signs of corrosion. Reseat the connector.
- Visual inspection: Look for warping or bubbling on the keypad surface, which indicates membrane failure.
- Replace keypad/control panel: If F7 persists after drying and reseating, replace the touchpad/control panel assembly. On some RCA models, the keypad is integrated with the front glass; replace the entire assembly.
- Control board check: If a new keypad does not resolve the issue, the electronic oven control board may also need replacement.
