Possible Causes

Failed cooling fan motor, Blocked cooling air vents, Faulty high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff, Defective fan relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

  • Check cooling fan operation: Start a bake cycle and listen for the internal cooling fan (usually behind the control panel or oven cavity). If the fan does not run and F8 appears, suspect the fan circuit.
  • Inspect vents: Ensure front and rear ventilation slots are not blocked by foil, insulation, or cabinetry.
  • Access fan motor: Remove the rear panel to locate the cooling fan. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
  • Test high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff on the oven top or back. With power OFF, test for continuity. An open device will prevent proper cooling and can trigger F8.
  • Replace faulty parts: Replace the cooling fan motor or high-limit thermostat/thermal cutoff as needed. If both are good, the electronic oven control board fan relay may be defective.
