Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor assembly, Broken or jammed door latch, Faulty door lock switch, Wiring issue between lock assembly and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly; keep fingers clear of moving parts.

  • Check door movement: Verify the oven door closes fully and the latch engages smoothly. If the latch is bent or obstructed, correct the mechanical issue first.
  • Listen for lock motor: Start a self-clean cycle (with power ON) and listen for the lock motor. If you hear no movement and F9 appears, the lock motor or its circuit is suspect.
  • Access lock assembly: With power OFF, remove the top panel or rear panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor and switches.
  • Test lock switches: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the lock and unlock switches while manually moving the latch. Replace the assembly if switches do not change state.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the lock assembly to the EOC for breaks or loose connectors.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the motor is seized or switches are faulty, replace the door lock motor and latch assembly. If the lock assembly is good but not receiving power, the electronic oven control board may be defective.
