Possible Causes
Buildup of baked-on grease on rack guides, Warped oven racks, Damaged porcelain coating on liner, Lack of high-temp lubrication
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely before handling racks.
- Clean racks and guides: Remove racks and clean them and the side supports with hot soapy water or a degreaser. Avoid abrasive pads that damage porcelain.
- Inspect for warping: Lay racks on a flat surface to check for warping. Replace oven racks that are bent.
- Lubricate lightly: Apply a very thin layer of high-temperature food-safe lubricant (or a small amount of cooking oil) to the rack contact points. Do not over-apply.
- Check liner damage: If the porcelain is chipped or rough, sliding noise may persist; avoid further damage and consider rack replacement.
