Possible Causes
Worn mechanical function selector switch, Broken selector knob shaft, Dirty or burnt contacts inside selector, Loose wiring on selector terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains before removing the control panel.
- Check selector knob: Ensure the knob is not cracked or spinning freely on the shaft. Replace the knob if it does not engage properly.
- Access selector switch: Remove the front control panel to expose the function selector switch. Inspect for signs of overheating or melted plastic.
- Tighten connections: Check that all spade terminals on the selector are tight and not oxidised. Clean lightly with electrical contact cleaner if needed.
- Test switch: Rotate the selector through all positions while observing the internal cam and contacts (if visible). If contacts are burnt or the switch feels loose, replace the entire selector switch.
- Reassemble and test: After replacement, verify that each function (bake, grill, fan, etc.) operates correctly without E12 appearing.
