Oven displays E5 and will not start a cooking program; timer and clock may still function.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.

• Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then restore. Sometimes a temporary keypad lock-up clears with a reset.
• Clean the panel: Wipe the glass control surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Avoid excessive moisture around the edges.
• Check for stuck keys: Gently press each touch area to feel for any that are unresponsive or permanently activated. If a specific key area is always active, the touch membrane is likely faulty.
• Inspect inside: Remove the front control panel to access the touch PCB. Look for corrosion, moisture, or burnt components. Ensure the ribbon cable to the main PCB is fully seated.
• Replace if necessary: If cleaning and reseating cables do not resolve E5, replace the complete touch control panel or keypad PCB as specified for your Russell Hobbs model.
