Possible Causes
Open-circuit grill element, Open-circuit top or bottom oven element, Burnt wiring to element terminals, Faulty relay on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before removing any rear or side panels.
- Visual check of elements: Inspect the grill and oven elements inside the cavity for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
- Access rear terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the element terminals. Check for loose, burnt, or disconnected wires.
- Continuity test: With the wires disconnected from the element, measure resistance across the element terminals. A typical oven element will read between 15–60 Ω. If the meter shows OL (open), the element is faulty and must be replaced.
- Check PCB relays: Listen for a click from the control board when a heating function is selected. If no click and the element tests good, the relay or PCB may be defective.
- Replace faulty part: Fit a compatible Russell Hobbs grill or oven element, ensuring all terminals are tight and insulated. If the PCB relay is faulty, replace the main control PCB.
