Possible Causes
Failed top cooling fan motor, Blocked air channels around cabinet, Faulty cooling fan triac or relay on PCB, Tripped overheat thermostat linked to cooling circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and let the oven cool fully.
- Check external ventilation: Ensure the oven is not tightly enclosed without the required ventilation gaps. Remove any items stored on top of or directly against the oven.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the top cover to access the cooling fan (different from the convection fan). Check that the blades are clean and can spin freely.
- Test fan operation: Restore power briefly and start a heating program while observing the cooling fan (keep hands clear). If the fan does not start after a few minutes of heating, the motor or control circuit is faulty.
- Replace cooling fan: With power off again, disconnect the fan wiring and remove mounting screws. Fit a compatible Russell Hobbs cooling fan motor and reassemble.
- If fan runs but E9 persists: The overheat thermostat or control PCB may be defective; professional diagnosis is recommended.
