Possible Causes
Seized convection fan motor, Worn motor bearings, Open motor winding, Faulty fan motor relay or triac on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the oven to cool completely before working near the fan.
- Access the fan: Remove the rear interior panel to expose the convection fan and motor shaft.
- Check for free rotation: Try turning the fan blade by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
- Inspect for obstructions: Remove any food debris, foil, or grease buildup that may be blocking the fan.
- Test motor windings: Access the motor terminals from the rear of the oven. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check power to motor: With the oven reconnected and set to a fan-assisted mode (use extreme caution), measure voltage at the motor terminals. If no voltage is present while the control calls for fan operation, the relay or control board is defective.
- Replace motor if needed: Remove the fan blade retaining nut, pull off the blade, and unbolt the motor from the rear panel. Install a Sauter-compatible convection fan motor, reassemble, and test.
