Possible Causes
Worn mechanical function selector switch, Broken selector shaft, Faulty touch control keypad, Damaged ribbon cable between keypad and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before removing the control panel.
- Identify control type: Determine whether your Sauter oven uses a rotary selector switch or a touch-sensitive control panel.
- For rotary selector: Remove the control knobs and front panel to access the selector switch. Inspect for melted plastic, burnt contacts, or a broken shaft. Test continuity across the switch contacts in different positions using a multimeter. Replace the selector switch if contacts are intermittent or open.
- For touch control: Remove the control panel fascia to access the touch keypad and ribbon cable. Check for corrosion or damage at the connector. Reseat the ribbon cable firmly. If some or all keys do not respond, replace the touch keypad or the entire front control module, depending on design.
- Check wiring harness: Ensure all connectors between the selector/keypad and the main control board are secure.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and verify that each function (bake, grill, fan, etc.) can be selected and that heating starts.
