Possible Causes

Defective NTC temperature sensor, Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose connector on control PCB, Corroded plug at sensor terminal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power (unplug or switch off circuit breaker) before any work. Allow the oven to cool completely.

  • Access the sensor: On most Severin built-in and countertop ovens, the temperature sensor (NTC probe) is mounted on the rear wall of the cavity, usually held by 1–2 screws and connected via a two-wire harness to the control board.
  • Check connections: Remove the rear cover or top cover (depending on model). Locate the NTC connector on the control PCB. Reseat the plug firmly and inspect for corrosion or burnt pins.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the NTC leads. A typical Severin NTC is around 1–20 kΩ at room temperature (check service sheet if available). If the reading is infinite (open) or extremely high, the sensor is faulty.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the harness from the sensor to the PCB. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or melted insulation, especially near the cavity and rear panel.
  • Replace if needed: If the NTC is open or damaged, remove the mounting screw(s), pull out the probe, and install a compatible Severin NTC temperature sensor. Route the new cable away from hot or sharp areas and reconnect to the PCB.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit covers, restore power, and set the oven to a moderate temperature (e.g. 180°C). Confirm that E0 no longer appears and that heating is restored.
