Possible Causes

Open high-limit safety thermostat, Blocked cooling vents, Failed cooling fan motor, Loose wiring to safety thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power. Wait until all internal parts are cool.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure that the oven has proper clearance as specified in the Severin installation instructions. Remove any obstructions from rear and side vents.
  • Inspect cooling fan: Remove the top or rear cover to access the cooling fan (usually mounted near the top or rear of the cabinet). Spin the fan blades by hand; they should move freely. If seized or noisy, the fan motor may be defective.
  • Test safety thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat (often a small round device with two terminals, mounted on the top or rear of the cavity). With power disconnected, test continuity across its terminals. An open reading indicates it has tripped or failed.
  • Manual reset (if applicable): Some Severin thermostats have a small reset button. Press it firmly until you feel a click. If it resets and continuity returns, reassemble and test. If it trips again, investigate cooling and airflow issues.
  • Replace thermostat: If the thermostat is non-resettable or remains open, replace it with the correct Severin high-limit thermostat. Transfer any mounting brackets and ensure firm contact with the metal surface.
  • Verify fan operation: After reassembly, power on the oven and set a moderate temperature. Confirm that the cooling fan starts when the oven heats and that E2 does not reappear.
