Possible Causes

Open circuit in top/bottom heating element, Burnt wiring to heating element, Faulty relay on control PCB, Loose spade connectors at element terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Verify with a tester that no voltage is present before touching internal wiring.

  • Access heating elements: For Severin ovens, the bottom element is usually accessible from inside the cavity (remove bottom panel if present), and the top/grill element from inside or via the rear panel.
  • Visual check: Look for visible breaks, bulges, or burn marks on the elements. Inspect wiring and connectors for discoloration or melting.
  • Continuity test: Disconnect the element terminals. Measure resistance across each element. A typical element will show a finite resistance (e.g. 20–80 Ω). An infinite reading indicates an open element that must be replaced.
  • Check connectors: Tighten or replace any loose or burnt spade connectors. Ensure good mechanical and electrical contact.
  • Control board relay: If elements test good, inspect the control PCB for a stuck or burnt relay (darkened area, cracked solder joints). Resolder cracked joints if you are competent; otherwise, replace the control module.
  • Replace faulty element: Remove mounting screws or brackets, carefully pull the element out, transfer any insulation or brackets, and install the new Severin heating element. Reconnect wires as originally routed.
  • Test: Reassemble, restore power, and test each heating mode (top, bottom, grill) to confirm proper operation and that E3 is cleared.
