Possible Causes
Failed circular convection element, Loose wiring at convection element, Burnt connector block, Faulty fan element relay on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains and allow it to cool.
- Access convection element: Remove the rear panel inside the oven cavity (usually held by several screws) to expose the circular fan element around the convection fan.
- Inspect element: Look for cracks, hot spots, or breaks in the circular element. Check the terminals and wiring for signs of overheating.
- Test resistance: Disconnect the wires from the element and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check wiring and connectors: Tighten any loose spade connectors and replace any that are discolored or brittle. Ensure the wiring harness is not touching the rotating fan.
- Replace element if faulty: Remove mounting screws, carefully withdraw the element, and install a new Severin convection (fan) heating element. Refit the rear cover plate.
- Control board check: If the element is good, inspect the control PCB for a defective fan-element relay. Look for burnt contacts or damaged tracks. Replace the control board if the relay is not switching.
- Test convection mode: Restore power and select a fan-assisted mode. Confirm that the fan runs and the oven heats evenly without E4 reappearing.
