Possible Causes

Defective main control PCB, Corrupted firmware, Shorted keypad membrane, Power surge damage to microcontroller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains. Capacitors on the control board may retain charge; avoid touching bare components.

  • Power reset: Leave the oven unplugged or isolated for at least 5–10 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Reconnect and check if E6 clears.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the control panel to access the PCB. Look for burnt components, swollen capacitors, or cracked solder joints, especially around the power supply section.
  • Check keypad: Disconnect the keypad or touch panel ribbon cable (if separate) and power up briefly. If E6 changes or clears, the keypad membrane may be shorted.
  • Surge protection: If E6 appeared after a power outage or lightning, the board is likely damaged. There is no reliable field repair for a microcontroller fault.
  • Replace control PCB: Order the correct Severin oven control module by model number. Transfer all connectors one by one to avoid miswiring. Mount the new board securely and ensure no wires are pinched.
  • Final test: Restore power, set time (if required), and test all functions (bake, grill, fan) to confirm normal operation.
