Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Jammed fan blades, Open thermal fuse in fan circuit, Loose wiring to cooling fan on Severin ovens
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Ensure the oven is cool before accessing the fan area.
- Access cooling fan: Remove the top cover or rear panel to reach the cooling fan assembly (not the convection fan inside the cavity).
- Check for obstruction: Inspect the fan blades for insulation, wiring, or debris preventing rotation. Remove any obstruction and ensure the blades spin freely by hand.
- Test motor: With power off, disconnect the fan motor leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Inspect thermal fuse (if fitted): Some Severin models include a thermal fuse in series with the fan. Test continuity; replace if open with the correct temperature-rated fuse.
- Check wiring and connectors: Tighten any loose terminals and inspect for heat damage near the fan.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or open, remove mounting screws, note the orientation, and install a new Severin cooling fan motor. Ensure the blades do not touch any panels.
- Test: Reassemble, restore power, and run the oven. The cooling fan should start automatically when the oven heats and E7 should not reappear.
