Possible Causes
Defective internal power supply on control PCB, Loose mains connection block, Damaged mains filter (EMI filter), Undervoltage from wall outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the circuit breaker and verify absence of voltage before opening the terminal area. Mains components can be lethal.
- Check wall supply: Use a multimeter to verify that the outlet or terminal block supplies the correct voltage (typically 220–240 V AC in Severin markets). If low, consult an electrician.
- Inspect mains terminal block: Remove the rear cover to access the mains connection. Tighten all screws on the terminal block and check for signs of overheating or melted plastic.
- Examine EMI filter: Locate the mains filter module. Look for cracks, bulging, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Control board power section: On the control PCB, inspect the power supply components (transformer or SMPS, rectifier, capacitors). Swollen capacitors or burnt resistors indicate failure.
- Replace faulty parts: If the power supply section is damaged, the safest solution is to replace the entire control PCB with a genuine Severin part. If only the mains filter is faulty, replace it with the same rating.
- Test: After reassembly, restore power and verify that E8 is cleared and all functions operate normally.
