Possible Causes

Burnt heating relay contacts, Failed relay driver transistor on PCB, Cracked solder joints under relays, Overheated PCB tracks to elements

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Allow time for capacitors to discharge before handling the PCB.

  • Access control PCB: Remove the control panel or top cover to expose the main board.
  • Visual inspection: Focus on the area where large relays are mounted. Look for darkened PCB, melted plastic, or cracked solder joints.
  • Check solder joints: Use a magnifier to inspect solder around relay pins and high-current tracks. Resolder any dull, cracked, or ringed joints with appropriate soldering skills.
  • Relay test: If equipped and you are competent, you can test relay coil resistance and, with the board removed and powered on a bench (advanced), verify switching. In most home repairs, replacing the entire board is safer.
  • Replace control PCB or relays: If relays are visibly burnt or the board is damaged, replace the complete Severin control module. If the board is otherwise sound and you have electronics experience, you may replace individual relays with identical types.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the panel, restore power, and test all heating modes to ensure E9 does not return.
