Possible Causes
Shorted touch membrane, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Contamination (grease, moisture) on touch panel, Faulty keypad interface on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel. Glass edges can be sharp; handle carefully.
- Clean the panel: Wipe the touch surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly. Do not allow liquid to seep into the edges.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel fascia to access the keypad ribbon. Check for kinks, cracks, or corrosion on the contacts. Reseat the cable firmly into the PCB connector.
- Check for moisture: If F1 appeared after heavy cleaning or a spill, leave the oven unplugged for several hours to allow the keypad area to dry completely.
- Test keys: After drying and reseating, restore power and test each key. If random beeping or F1 persists, the membrane is likely damaged.
- Replace keypad/touch panel: Order the correct Severin touch panel or keypad assembly. Remove the old panel (often adhered with clips or adhesive) and install the new one, ensuring the ribbon is not twisted or pinched.
- Final check: Reassemble the fascia, restore power, and verify that all keys respond and F1 is cleared.
