Oven shows F2 and shuts off during cooking, often at high temperatures

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

• Check ventilation and installation: Ensure the oven is installed with the clearances specified by Severin. Remove any items blocking vents or the rear of the unit.
• Inspect cooling fan operation: Confirm that the cooling fan runs during high-temperature operation. If not, see cooling fan fault procedures.
• Check sensor mounting: Access the NTC sensor at the rear of the cavity. Ensure it is firmly attached and not hanging loose. A loose sensor can read incorrectly and trigger F2.
• Test sensor resistance at elevated temperature: If you have a service manual, compare the NTC resistance at a known temperature (e.g. 100°C) using a controlled heat source. Replace the sensor if readings are far from specification.
• Inspect high-limit thermostat: If the thermostat is cycling too early, it may be weak. Test continuity when cold and after heating (carefully, using a heat gun and thermometer). Replace if it opens at too low a temperature.
• Replace faulty components: Install a new Severin NTC sensor or high-limit thermostat as required, ensuring proper mounting and wiring.
• Test at high temperature: Run the oven at a high setting (e.g. 220–250°C) and monitor for F2. Verify stable operation.
