Possible Causes

Open grill element, Burnt wiring to grill element, Faulty grill relay on control PCB, Loose terminal at grill element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the grill area to cool fully.

  • Access grill element: Open the oven door and locate the top grill element. On some Severin models, it hinges down after removing retaining screws.
  • Visual inspection: Look for cracks, burn marks, or sagging in the grill element. Check the terminals and wiring for heat damage.
  • Continuity test: Disconnect the grill element wires and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • Check connectors: Tighten or replace any loose or discolored spade connectors. Ensure good contact.
  • Replace grill element: Remove mounting screws or clips, carefully lower and remove the element, and install a new Severin grill element. Reconnect wiring as originally routed.
  • Control board check: If the element is good, inspect the grill relay on the control PCB for damage. Replace the board if the relay is not functioning.
  • Test grill mode: Reassemble, restore power, and select grill. Confirm that the element heats and F3 is cleared.
