Possible Causes
Blown thermal fuse on main supply to elements, Severe overheating event, Shorted element causing fuse to open, Blocked cooling airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Thermal fuses are non-resettable and must be replaced with the correct type.
- Locate thermal fuse: On many Severin ovens, the thermal fuse is mounted on the top or rear of the oven chassis, in series with the element supply.
- Test continuity: With power off, disconnect one lead of the fuse and measure continuity. An open reading confirms a blown fuse.
- Investigate cause: Before replacing, inspect for blocked vents, failed cooling fan, or elements shorting to chassis. Correct any underlying issues.
- Replace fuse: Install a new Severin-specified thermal fuse with the same temperature rating and current capacity. Do not bypass or substitute with incorrect parts.
- Secure mounting: Ensure the fuse is mounted in the same location and orientation to sense temperature correctly.
- Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and test heating functions. Monitor for any unusual smells or rapid overheating.
