Oven emits burning smell or smoke during use (not new-oven burn-in)

Possible Causes
Food or grease on heating elements, Spilled liquids on cavity floor, Insulation near elements displaced, Wiring too close to hot surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, switch off the oven and ventilate the room. Do not leave the oven unattended.
- Inspect cavity: When cool, check elements and cavity surfaces for burnt-on food or grease. Clean with a suitable oven cleaner following the product instructions.
- Check under bottom panel: Remove the bottom panel (if fitted) to inspect for spills on the hidden bottom element.
- Inspect wiring and insulation: Remove rear panel and ensure insulation and wiring are not touching elements. Reposition or secure as needed.
- Burn-off procedure: After cleaning, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature (e.g. 200°C) for 30–45 minutes with good ventilation to burn off residues.
- Monitor: If smell persists or you see smoke from behind panels, disconnect power and inspect further or consult a technician.
