Possible Causes
Mechanical thermostat stuck closed (on analog models), Shorted NTC sensor causing low reading, Stuck heating relay on control PCB, Mis-calibrated control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Overheating can damage internal insulation; inspect carefully.
- Check control setting: Confirm the temperature knob or digital setting is correct and not accidentally set too high.
- Test mechanical thermostat: On knob-controlled Severin ovens, remove the knob and access the thermostat. Test continuity while turning the shaft; it should open at lower settings. Replace if it remains closed.
- Test NTC sensor: On electronic models, measure sensor resistance and compare to specification. Replace if readings are too low for the actual temperature.
- Inspect relays: Check the control PCB for a relay that may be welded closed. Replace the board if the relay does not release.
- Verify with thermometer: Use an oven thermometer to confirm actual temperature vs setpoint after repairs.
