Possible Causes

Melted selector switch from overheating, Grease or debris in switch mechanism, Bent shaft or misaligned knob, Internal mechanical failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Do not force the knob, as this can break the shaft.

  • Remove knob: Pull off the function selector knob and check for physical obstruction or damage.
  • Access selector switch: Remove the control panel to inspect the rotary switch.
  • Inspect for heat damage: Look for melted plastic or deformed parts. If present, the switch must be replaced.
  • Lubrication: If the switch is mechanically sound but stiff, a very small amount of electrical contact lubricant on the shaft (not contacts) may help. Avoid over-lubrication.
  • Replace switch: If rotation is still restricted, replace the function selector switch with a Severin part, transferring wires one by one.
  • Test: Reassemble and verify smooth rotation through all positions.
