Possible Causes

Broken thermostat shaft, Stripped knob insert, Failed potentiometer on electronic control, Loose thermostat mounting

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing control knobs or panels.

  • Check knob: Pull off the temperature knob and inspect the plastic insert. Replace the knob if cracked or stripped.
  • Inspect thermostat shaft: If the shaft is broken or spins freely without clicking, the thermostat is faulty and must be replaced.
  • Electronic models: If using a rotary encoder or potentiometer, check the connection to the control PCB and reseat the connector.
  • Replace thermostat/control: Remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring (noting positions), and install a new Severin thermostat or rotary control. Refit knob.
  • Test: Restore power and verify that changing the knob setting changes the oven temperature.
