Possible Causes

Open oven temperature sensor, broken sensor wiring harness, loose sensor connector at control board, corroded sensor terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before testing.

  • Access sensor: Locate the temperature sensor probe inside the oven cavity (rear wall). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical Sharp NTC sensor should read around 1000–1200Ω at room temperature. If the reading is infinite (open circuit) or extremely high, the sensor is faulty.
  • Check harness: If the sensor tests good, trace the wiring from the sensor to the control board. Inspect for breaks, burns, or pinched sections, especially where the harness passes through the rear panel.
  • Reseat connectors: At the control board, unplug and replug the sensor connector to ensure a solid connection. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner.
  • Replace faulty component: Replace the oven temperature sensor if open. If wiring is damaged, repair or replace the harness. If all wiring and sensor are good but F3 persists, the control board sensor input may be defective and the EOC should be replaced.
