Possible Causes
Membrane keypad key stuck closed, contamination under touch panel, damaged keypad ribbon cable, failed keypad matrix on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing the control panel.
- Check for physical sticking: Press each key on the keypad repeatedly to see if any feel stuck or do not click properly. Clean the surface gently with a slightly damp cloth (no excess liquid).
- Dry out moisture: If the panel was recently cleaned with spray cleaner, leave the oven powered off for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel and inspect the flat ribbon cable for kinks, cracks, or burn marks. Reseat it at the control board.
- Test keypad: On some Sharp models, a keypad test mode can be entered (refer to service manual). If one key appears always pressed, the keypad is defective.
- Replace keypad/touch panel: If a stuck key is confirmed and cleaning does not help, replace the membrane keypad or full touch control assembly.
