Possible Causes
Grease or debris in knob shaft, worn detent mechanism in selector switch, damaged thermostat shaft, cracked knob
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing knobs or front panels.
- Remove knobs: Pull the knobs straight off the shafts. Clean the knob bores and panel area of grease and debris.
- Lubrication: Do not use general-purpose oil. If the manufacturer allows, apply a small amount of high-temperature-safe contact lubricant to the shaft (avoid contacts).
- Inspect selector switch: If the switch does not click or feels loose, replace the function selector switch.
- Replace thermostat: If the temperature knob shaft is stiff or wobbly, replace the oven thermostat assembly.
