Possible Causes
Seized door lock motor, jammed lock latch, failed lock switch not signaling unlock, control board not sending unlock command
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before attempting to manually release the lock. Surfaces may still be hot after self-clean.
- Allow full cooling: Wait several hours after self-clean until the oven is completely cool; some models will not unlock until a low temperature is reached.
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the control will reinitialize and unlock the door.
- Manual release: Remove the top panel and locate the door lock assembly. Carefully move the lock lever to the unlock position by hand.
- Inspect lock assembly: Check for broken plastic parts or a seized motor. Replace the door lock assembly if it does not move freely or the motor does not operate.
- Control board: If the lock mechanism is good but never receives power to unlock, the control board may be faulty and require replacement.
