Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, Obstructed convection fan blade, Open convection fan wiring harness, Faulty main control fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Internal edges are sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Remove oven racks. Inspect the convection fan cover at the rear of the oven cavity. Ensure no loose foil or debris is contacting the fan area.
- Step 2 – Check for obstruction: Remove the fan cover (usually a few screws) and gently spin the convection fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding.
- Step 3 – Access motor connections: From the rear of the oven (with power off and rear panel removed), locate the convection fan motor terminals. Ensure connectors are tight and not burnt.
- Step 4 – Test motor winding: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
- Step 5 – Control output check (advanced): With the oven reassembled enough for safe operation and power restored, a technician can check for voltage at the motor when convection is commanded. If no voltage is present and wiring is intact, the control board is likely faulty.
Warning: Do not run the oven with the convection fan cover removed; this can cause uneven heating and expose moving parts.
