Possible Causes
Open bake heating element, Burnt bake element terminals, Broken wire in bake circuit, Failed bake relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing elements or wiring.
- Step 1 – Visual check of bake element: Inside the oven, inspect the lower bake element for cracks, breaks, or bulges. Any visible damage means the element must be replaced.
- Step 2 – Check rear connections: Pull the oven out from the wall, unplug it, and remove the rear panel. Inspect the bake element terminals for signs of burning or loose connections.
- Step 3 – Test continuity: Disconnect at least one wire from the bake element and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open reading (OL) indicates a failed element.
- Step 4 – Inspect wiring harness: Trace the wires from the element to the control board. Repair any burnt or broken wires using high-temperature-rated connectors.
- Step 5 – Control board diagnosis: If the element and wiring are good, the bake relay on the control board may be defective. Replacement of the control board is then required.
Tip: When replacing the bake element, avoid bending it sharply; this can damage the sheath and shorten its life.
